Abstract

204,675. Portch, G. G. Sept.. 29, 1922, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Theft and burglar alarms. - Relates to alarms for indicating any tampering with movable objects, strong rooms, &c. Packing cases are fisted with a double metallic lining b, c separated by insulation d. The linings are kept in position by screws e contacting with the inner linings c but passing through clearance holes in the other lining into the wood. The insertion of a metallic tool completes the circuit and rings a bell, the bell and battery being contained within the case. The bell or buzzer may be mounted on a sound-magnifying device. Wires may be stretched over the inside of a packing case and brought out through the lid to a seal which is then covered with a batten. An attempt to break open the side of the case causes the screws e to be drawn through the linings and make contact between them. For the protection of a room, the linings may be placed across the resistance in one arm of a Wheatstone bridge. Window bars may be formed of an inner rod and an outer sleeve connected in an alarm syslem.
