Abstract

1,229,166. Burglar alarms. ARIEL BURGLARY & FIRE PROTECTION CO. Ltd. 28 April, 1969, No. 21579/69. Heading G4N. A burglar alarm, preferably forming a bar for a window and comprising a fragile conductive wire 1 surrounded by two rigid conductive tubes 2, 3, is actuated when wire 1 is broken or when tubes 2, 3 are shorted when a burglar attempts to force an entry. Wire 1 may be hard-drawn and coated in insulation, and tubes 2,3 are of metal or metal-coated plastics, separated by insulative rings or caps 4, 5. Connections are made in recessed battens 6 to a relay-operated alarm, which may be audible, visible or telephonic. The alarm may be tested by a manual switch (Figs. 2, 3, not shown) which interconnects tubes 2, 3.
