Abstract

1,203,936. Intruder alarms. BURGOT ALARMS Ltd. 6 Nov., 1967 [4 Nov., 1966], No. 49668/66. Heading G4N. A system for the protection of an area against intruders or escapers comprises a fence or screen (positioned, for example, in an inclined plane around the top of a wall) including a number of wires under tension to maintain rigidity, one or more wires having incorporated therein a link which fractures when the wire is subjected to a small additional tension, thus initiating an alarm signal. Each wire may include more than one link comprising (Fig. 2, not shown) a plug member inserted into a socket member to complete a run of wire, and a shear pin inserted transversely through both the plug and socket which pin fractures to permit the plug and socket to disengage and hence casue a break in the wire in response to the additional tension. The alarm is likewise actuated should the wire be severed.
