Abstract

A pad, for example for order- processing by a photographic dealer, comprises units 1 each consisting of a voucher 2 and a bag 3 having a front 6 and a back 7 and a part 8 which will eventually act as a closure flap. The parts 8 are interleaved with the vouchers 2, so that writing on a voucher 2 produces corresponding writing, by a copy foil or carbon coating or other known reproduction means, on the respective part 8. The vouchers 2 and tabs connected at lines 20 of perforations to the parts 8 are bound into a spine 5. There are fold lines 17 between the bags 3 and the respective parts 8. Each unit 1 can be made from a single piece of printed paper or like material suitably cut or stamped to size with a base incision line 22 and perforation and fold lines, and each bag may have one or more windows, insignia, spaces for writing, and adhesive- coated areas for closure purposes. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Order-processing pad for photographic dealers and the like DESCRIPTION The invention relates to an order-processing pad for photographic dealers and the like.
When amateur photographers especially bring their films to the photographic dealer to have them developed and prints produced, the dealer gives them a voucher which he takes from a carbon-copy pad. As a rule he puts the submitted film into a special bag which he forwards to a photographic laboratory. He receives the film and the corresponding prints back in this bag and then hands the goods in this bag to the collecting client against payment. Thus beside the carbon-copy pad separate photograph bags must be kept ready. It easily occurs then that the voucher from the carbon-copy pad is not allocated to the correct bag, so that the order cannot be carried out correctly. Above all however special pads and special bags must be purchased and filled in, frequently the separate carbon-copy pads are mislaid, so that additional search work has to be carried out.
The invention is based upon the problem of producing an order-processing pad which on the one hand can be produced at favourable price and on the other substantially facilitates order processing and precludes incorrect attribution.
To solve this problem the invention provides that the pad consists of vouchers which remain in the pad and photographic bags, formed as flat bags, which can be taken out from the pad, and the individual vouchers can be aliocated to the individual photographic bags. Vouchers and bags thus initially are formed in one piece, but are separable from one another. In the pad a part of the photographic bag covers the associated voucher so that a carbon-copy can be produced. In this case the one side facing the other can be carbon-coated, a carbon paper can be inserted or a chemically reactive substance can be used for copying. The covered part preferably forms a closure flap which can be folded about a fold line.
Such an order-processing pad has the advantage especially that the voucher and photographic bag are together and all search work is eliminated. There is automatically a correct association between voucher and bag, the pad can be produced at favourable price because voucher and bag can be produced in common in a simple manner.
In an especially advantageous manner a window is punched out of at least one side of the photographic bag and covered with a transparent foil. It is provided according to the invention here that the window with the transparent foil is covered by the removable punched-out section, so that this punched section can be handed as voucher to the customer. The voucher remaining in the pad, the photographic bag and the punched section expediently all bear the same number, the voucher in the pad remains with the photographic dealer, the punched section goes to the customer and the laboratory receives its instructions for processing the content of the photographic bag by the indications on the closure flap. In the inscription of the latter a copy is made through on to the voucher, thus one has a "photographic bag carbon-copy pad".
According to a further feature of the invention in each case the voucher and the photographic bag pertaining to it are manufactured from a rectangular paper sheet which is obtained from a web unwinding from a paper roll.
In a first form of embodiment the sheet can carry a punched incision in the form of three incision lines arranged in U-form which separate the voucher from the photographic bag.
The two mutually parallel incision lines terminate at a distance from one margin of the paper sheet which serves for the stitching together of the individual voucher-photographic bag units to form the pad. The incision line forming the base of the U extends over the whole width of the photographic bag and is continued on the paper sheet as a fold line which defines the turnover flap. The photographic bag can easily be separated out of the pad if a separating perforation is provided parallel with the edge of the paper sheet and the fold line for the turnover flap, starting from the end of the mutually parallel incision lines. Production is of special simplicity if the mutually parallel incision lines are continued as fold lines on the paper sheet and separate the front, the back and a gluing edge from one another.According to the invention the turnover flap is arranged on the front of the photographic bag, the back is made shorter than the front by the amount of the turnover flap and continues in the voucher separated by the incision lines, and the inside of the front is stuck by its longitudinal edge, opposite to the fold line, to the outside of the adhesive margin and by the transverse edge opposite to the turnover flap to the inside of the back.
In a second form of embodiment the paper sheet consists of a narrow and long rectangle which is folded in half about a fold line which then forms the transverse edge. To form the photographic bag the longitudinal edges are stuck to one another. A perforation line is provided on the front close to the one margin, likewise on the back but at a greater distance from the one margin. In this form of embodiment a special punched incision is not necessary.
In both forms of embodiment according to the invention an activatable adhesive is used preferably as adhesive, that is to say an adhesive which can be applied immediately to the web, for example before cutting out and stamping, but which becomes capable of adhesion only when it is activated for example by heat (for example hot-sealing glue), or if it comes into contact with a counter-adhesive, or it is made in the form of a self-adhesive gum coating (contact adhesive).
The invention will be explained in greater detail hereinafter by reference to two examples of forms of embodiment which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein: Figure I shows a lateral view of an orderprocessing pad, in diagrammatic representation, Figure 2 shows a plan view thereof, Figure 3 shows a plan view of the front of a photographic bag separated out from the pad, Figure 4 shows a plan view of a paper sheet for a first form of embodiment from which the photographic bag and voucher are produced, in the condition after completion of punching but before folding and sticking, Figure 5 shows a longitudinal section through the voucher-photographic bag unit in a second form of embodiment, Figure 6 shows a plan view thereof.
The order-processing pad is composed of units 1 which consist of a voucher 2 and a photographic bag 3. The units 1 can be stuck to one another along one margin 4 and surrounded for example by a margin reinforcement 5, to form the pad. The unit 1 has at least double sheet thickness in order in the region of the photographic bag 3 to form its front 6 and back 7 and in the region of the voucher 2 to have a facility for copying on to the voucher 2 through a protruding part 8 serving as closure flap 9. Into the front 6 and the back 7 there are punched windows 10, 11 which are covered by a transparent foil 1 2. The punched-out sections 13, 1 4 are not however initially taken out of the windows 10, 11 but left there and for the present are still connected with the front 6 and back 7 respectively through narrow webs. The unit 1 is produced from one single paper sheet 1 5 which is obtained from a web unwinding from a roll.
In a first form of embodiment according to Figs. 2 to 4 the rectangular paper sheet 1 5 is provided with a punched incision 16, fold lines 1 7, 18, 19, the punched-out windows 10, 11 and a separating perforation 20. The punched incision 1 6 consists of three incision lines 21, 22, 23 arranged in U-form in relation to one another, the base incision line 22 extending parallel with the margin 4 and the incision lines 21, 23 perpendicular thereto terminating at a distance 2+ from this margin 4. The incision lines 21 to 23 define the voucher 2.The incision line 22 extends over the whole width 25 of the photographic bag 3 and continues in the fold line 1 7 over the remainder of the paper sheet 1 5. Parallel with the fold line 1 7 and with the margin 4 there extends the separating perforation 20;which starts from the ends 26 of the incision lines 21, 23. The incision lines 21, 23 continue in the fold lines 1 9 and 1 8 respectively which separate an adhesive margin 27 from the back 7 and the back 7 from the front 6. The part 8 continuing the front 6 and forming the closure flap 9 is carbon-coated on the inside 28, likewise the corresponding inside of the adhesive margin 27 (represented in hatched lines in Fig. 4).
After the punching and formation of the fold lines 17, 18, 1 9 the paper sheet 1 5 is folded and stuck. Firstly the adhesive margin 27 is folded around the fold lines 1 9 through 180 inwards so that the inside 29 of the adhesive margin 27 comes to lie on the inside 30 of the back 7, then the front 6 is folded around the fold line 1 8 so that its inside 28 comes to lie on the inside 30 of the back 7 and on the outside of the adhesive margin 27.The longitudinal margin 31 of the front 6, lying opposite to the fold line 18, and the transverse margin 32 lying opposite to the closure flap 9 can previously be provided with a preferably activatable adhesive 33, so that the sticking of the photographic bag 3 is effected solely by the folding together and pressing, possibly with supply of heat, and it is possible to dispense with a separate sticking station. The units 1 thus produced are folded together, as initially mentioned, to form the pad. The voucher 2, the closure flap 9 and the punched-out section 14 each carry the same number 34 so that after singling these three parts can always be associated with one another. Form inscriptions are provided on the outsides of the front 6 and the back 7, and further necessary inscriptions are situated on the voucher 2 and the punchedout section 14.
The form of embodiment according to Figs.
5 and 6 differs from the first form of embodiment in that the fold line 1 8 extends transversely of the longitudinal extent of the photographic bag 3 and forms the transverse edge 32 after folding. It is only necessary for the windows 10, 11 to be punched out of the paper sheet, and a one-piece transparent foil 1 2 is stuck over both. The punched-out sections 13, 14 again initially remain in the windows 10, 11. The front 6 and the back 7 are formed by folding around the fold line 18, the front 6 has the perforation line 20 and the fold line 17, again the closure flap 9, which can again be carbon coated on the inside 28, is formed by the part 8 between the separating perforation 20 and the fold line 1 7. In this case the back 7 carries a line 35 of heavy perforation at a greater distance from the margin 4, the part between the margin 4 and the perforation line 35 forms the voucher 2.
When the front 6 and the back 7 are laid one upon the other the sticking is brought about along the longitudinal margins 31, 36. The sticking naturally does not extend over the whole length 37 of the unit 1, but reaches only from the fold line 1 8 to the perforation line 35.
When a customer brings a film for development to the dealer, the latter firstly makes appropriate entries on the outside of the closure flap 9, which entries are copied on to the voucher 2 by the carbon-coating of the inside 28. The punched-out section 14 is completed accordingly. Then the photographic bag 3 is separated out of the pad along the separating perforation 20 and possibly the perforation line 35, the corresponding voucher 2 then remains in the pad. The film is put into the bag and then the closure flap 9 is turned over about the fold line 1 7. The punched-out section 14 is taken out and handed to the customer as voucher. The photographic bag 3 appropriately inscribed on the closure flap 9 is sent to the laboratory, the film is developed there and returned in the photographic bag 3 to the dealer, with corresponding prints if ordered. The customer then comes with his punched-out section 14 and collects the finished work. From the voucher 2 the dealer always knows how many orders are in hand at the time.
In the second form of embodiment, similarly to the first form of embodiment, adhesive margins 27 can be provided on the longitudinal edges 31, 36 which can come to lie inwards or outwards in the photographic bag 3 on turning over.
