Abstract

203,498. Roggers, A. E. Aug. 14, 1922. Plant. - Sewage is subjected to successive maceration, sedimentation and filtration, being passed from one stage of treatment to the next by the intermittent influx of liquid to the primary treating means. The liquid passes under gravity into the closed vessel through a pipe 2 extending below the level of a screen 3, and thence through a, siphon 5, having a cage screen 6 at its inlet end, to the first settling-vessel 4. The liquid is further passed through a second settling-tank 7, and filters 10, 13, 17 to a discharge pipe 19. The filters 10, 13 are charged with coke and provided with porcelain or like elements 12, 15 at the lower end.
