Spring drives and resilient couplings; transmission gear of invariable ratio.-In toothed gearing for electric locomotives, electromotors 6, 7 respectively drive pinions 11, 12 gearing with gear-wheels 9, 10 carried on the jack-shaft driving the wheels. Certain of the parts are of flexible type to equalize the driving stresses and absorb shock and preferably the wheels 9, 10 have rim and centre portions with inwardly and outwardly extending lugs provided with resilient connecting means.
