Dials, hands, etc.; illuminating, means for. - The relatively movable terminal elements of an indicating device adapted to serve as a clock dial are constituted by sheets or discs of plate glass or other transparent material upon the surface of which the graduations and other co-operating indications are cut or etched and are arranged to be illuminated from a common source of light by internal reflection by utilising the principle of illumination described in Specification 11112/09. The edges of one or more of the relatively movable sheets &c. may be provided with colour strips as described in Specification 191,220, [Class 3 (ii), Advertising and displaying other than moving &c.] to vary the colour of the light transmitted. Relatively rotatable discs 19, 20, Figs. 4, 5, contained in a casing 21 are mounted on rollers 22 one of which for each disc is provided with teeth adapted to mesh with teeth on the bezel 23 surrounding the discs 19, 20, and to be operated by the actuating mechanism of the clockwork. The pointers 29, 30 on the dials 19, 20 and the indications 28 on a stationary disc 31 are adapted to be illuminated by a lamp 26 projecting into the central aperture 25 of the discs, an opaque cover 27 being provided to intercept the rays of light.
