Abstract

202,643. Sol, F. Aug. 16, 1922, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Pressing fruit and vegetables; mincing.-A machine for pressing and pulping fruit, vegetables and the like and extracting the juices from the same, comprises a grinder or mincer which discharges into a reciprocating-plunger press, and a frame carrying mechanism for operating the two units. The mincer consists of rotary members 1, 2 having teeth disposed in mutually staggered relation, the member 1 being journaled in fixed bearings and the member 2 in slidable spring-pressed bearings, provided with tensionadjusting means, the member 2 being thereby displaced by the excessive pressure caused by a hard body passing between the members. A removable, enclosing-casing 4 is surmounted by a hopper (not shown), and the outlet 13 is positioned over the inlet 18 of the press. The press consists of a reciprocating plunger 15, and a cylinder 14 having juice-outlets 22 and a truncated conical outlet formed of elastic metallic blades 20 and a steel ring 21 by which the diameter of the outlet is adjusted, the elastic blades 20 opening under excessive pressure, thereby preventing obstruction. The plunger 15 has a tip 19 which accelerates the expulsion of the pulp through the outlet. The holes 22 are tapered outwardly and a juice trough 31 is provided. The mincer and press are operated from a hand-wheel through connecting-rods and gearing. The machine is mounted on wheels for transport.
