Abstract

The invention provides a display card 10 on which a box can be mounted to contain an article for sale, the box having two parts 16, 20 engaged on opposite sides of the card against the margin of a hole in the card, the card having tabs 13, 14 projecting from the periphery of the hole engaged between the peripheral walls of the box. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Display Devices This invention relates to display devices.
According to the invention a display device comprises a sheet of substantially rigid material having a large hole therein, a plurality of tabs projecting from the periphery of the hold, and a two-part box one part of which has a peripheral wall which can enter the hole with small clearance and has an end wall larger than the hole to seat against the sheet and the other part of which serves as a lid and has a peripheral wall which fits over the peripheral wall of the first part with the tabs engaging firmly between the two peripheral walls and is larger than the hole so as to seat against the other side of the card.
A constructional form of the invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings wherein: Figure 1 is a part side elevation and part section of a display device made in accordance with the invention, and Figure 2 is a front view of part of the device.
The device comprises a rectangular sheet of substantially rigid material 10 such as thin cardboard which may be considerably thinner than is shown in the drawing. The sheet or card 10 has a large hole 11 occupying most of the bottom half of the sheet. The hole is shown as circular but may be of other shape. Two tabs 13, 14 integral with the card 10 are provided at the periphery of the hole 11 which can extend at right angles to the card diametrically opposite to each other. A two-part box comprises an inner part 1 6 which has a peripheral wall 1 7 which enters through the hole with small clearance and has an end wall 18 larger than the hole so as to seat at its margin against one side of the card on the margin around the hole.The outer part 20 of the box has a peripheral wall 19 large enough to slide over the wall 1 7 and tightly over the tabs 13, 14 with the tabs between the two peripheral walls.
The edge of the wall 1 9 seats against the card at the margin around the hole whereby the card and two parts of the box are firmly held together for display but can readily be taken apart when required.
The box can contain any required articles for sale e.g. typewriter ribbons and the card can be printed with information and advertising matter.
The card may also have another hole 24 above the centre of the hole 11 by which it can be hung on a hook.
Claims
1. A display device comprising a sheet of substantially rigid material having a large hole therein, a plurality of tabs projecting from the periphery of the hole, and a two-part box one part of which has a peripheral wall which can enter the hole with small clearance and has an end wall larger than the hole to seat against the sheet and the other part of which serves as a lid and has a peripheral wall which fits over the peripheral wall of the first part with the tabs engaging firmly between the two peripheral walls and is larger than the hole so as to seat against the other side of the card.
2. A display device as claimed in claim 1 wherein the sheet is rectangular, the hole is circular and occupies most of the bottom half of the sheet two diametrically opposite tabs are provided and the sheet has another hole above the centre of the first hole by which the sheet can be hung on a hook.
3. A display device substantially as described and as illustrated in the accompanying drawing.

According to the invention a display device comprises a sheet of substantially rigid material having a large hole therein, a plurality of tabs projecting from the periphery of the hold, and a two-part box one part of which has a peripheral wall which can enter the hole with small clearance and has an end wall larger than the hole to seat against the sheet and the other part of which serves as a lid and has a peripheral wall which fits over the peripheral wall of the first part with the tabs engaging firmly between the two peripheral walls and is larger than the hole so as to seat against the other side of the card. A constructional form of the invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings wherein: Figure 1 is a part side elevation and part section of a display device made in accordance with the invention, and Figure 2 is a front view of part of the device. The device comprises a rectangular sheet of substantially rigid material 10 such as thin cardboard which may be considerably thinner than is shown in the drawing. The sheet or card 10 has a large hole 11 occupying most of the bottom half of the sheet. The hole is shown as circular but may be of other shape. Two tabs 13, 14 integral with the card 10 are provided at the periphery of the hole 11 which can extend at right angles to the card diametrically opposite to each other. A two-part box comprises an inner part 1 6 which has a peripheral wall 1 7 which enters through the hole with small clearance and has an end wall 18 larger than the hole so as to seat at its margin against one side of the card on the margin around the hole.The outer part 20 of the box has a peripheral wall 19 large enough to slide over the wall 1 7 and tightly over the tabs 13, 14 with the tabs between the two peripheral walls. The edge of the wall 1 9 seats against the card at the margin around the hole whereby the card and two parts of the box are firmly held together for display but can readily be taken apart when required. The box can contain any required articles for sale e.g. typewriter ribbons and the card can be printed with information and advertising matter. The card may also have another hole 24 above the centre of the hole 11 by which it can be hung on a hook. Claims
1. A display device comprising a sheet of substantially rigid material having a large hole therein, a plurality of tabs projecting from the periphery of the hole, and a two-part box one part of which has a peripheral wall which can enter the hole with small clearance and has an end wall larger than the hole to seat against the sheet and the other part of which serves as a lid and has a peripheral wall which fits over the peripheral wall of the first part with the tabs engaging firmly between the two peripheral walls and is larger than the hole so as to seat against the other side of the card.
2. A display device as claimed in claim 1 wherein the sheet is rectangular, the hole is circular and occupies most of the bottom half of the sheet two diametrically opposite tabs are provided and the sheet has another hole above the centre of the first hole by which the sheet can be hung on a hook.
3. A display device substantially as described and as illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
