Abstract

In order to reduce the rate of flow of heat from a radiant heater 8 in an oven 2 to a microwave generator 1 which also feeds energy into the oven, a waveguide 3 which couples the microwave generator 1 to the oven is stopped short of the oven and the gap is filled by a microwave seal (e.g. a choke) 6 and a thermal insulating material 5. The opening into the oven is also sealed by an appropriate dielectric plate 7. <IMAGE>
