Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a fixing device of a short waiting time and a uniform temp. distribution of a roller surface by combining dielectric heating by high frequencies such as microwaves and fixing by a roller sealed with heat transfer liquid (heat pipe roller). CONSTITUTION:This device is constituted of a microwave generator 1 incorporating magnetron or the like, a waveguide 2 consisting of a good metallic conductor, a hollow fixing roller 3 constituted of a good conductor of electricity and heat and having heat transfer liquid 6, a connecting member connecting the waveguide 2 and the roller 3 as a propagation path for microwaves, etc. Methanol, acetone, water and the like are used for the heat transfer liquid, of which water in particular is suited. A plate 5 shutting off the inside of the roller 4 and the waveguide side is provided. Forms other than the roller are also possible as the hollow vessel having the heat transfer medium.
