Abstract

A liquid level probe has a housing 1 with a lower section 2 containing a first thermistor 4. Section 2 has a cap 16 which holds a second thermistor 11 in place via a spring 15. The cap is held on section 2 by a spring-ring 18. Two leads 5 and 6 extend from thermistor 4 to the upper section 7 of housing 1 and are attached to two members 9 and 8, the member 8 being earthed. Thermistor 11 has two leads 12 and 19 which extend to a third member 10 and to member 8 respectively. With the probe in a liquid, and current passing through leads 5 and 6, thermistor 4 acts as a level sensor by detecting changes in resistance. A current is passed through leads 12 and 19 to thermistor 11, which monitors the temperature by a change in resistance. <IMAGE>
