Abstract

A pneumatic vehicle tyre comprises a tensile belt (4) extending substantially over the width of the tread (7) and having reinforcing plies of parallel cords extending diagonally (e.g. at an angle of 10-30 DEG ) to the circumferential direction of the tyre, a shoulder-like extension (8) on each on side of the tread, and narrow, tensile bands (9) of substantially cylindrical shape formed of reinforcing cords extending in parallel to each other substantially in the circumferential direction of the tyre, the edges of the bands (9) facing the belt being arranged substantially below the tread surface edge (6). The cords of the belt and the band are preferably of steel, and bridging plies (13) e.g. of rayon or polyamide may be provided. The plies (13) may be located one below and one above the belt and band. <IMAGE>
