Abstract
The invention provides a Fresnel lens (47) comprised of a suitably shaped transparent plastic layer 43 bonded to a transparent substrate (42). In another embodiment (Figure 3 not shown) the substrate is bonded on each side to one of the plastic layers. This combines the forming capacity of a plastic with a substrate which can be low cost or has other suitable characteristics. The invention is particularly applicable to a solar energy concentrator (40) using the lens (47) in conjunction with an energy receiver (44). The substrate may be of a glass e.g. a tempered, low-iron oxide glass and the plastic may be a cured epoxy resin. <IMAGE>
