Abstract

Thermoelectric control means, for interrupting the supply of gas to a gas burner 4 supplied via manually- operable mechanical valve 3, comprises an electromagnetic valve 2 having a field coil 6 in a circuit comprising a thermoelectric element 5 in the vicinity of the burner flame, and a switch 7 controlled by mechanical clockwork timing mechanism 8. The coil 6 is energisable directly by thermoelectric current from element 5. When the thermoelectric current circuit is interrupted by opening of the switch 7 by the timing mechanism 8 at a preselected instant, or when the flame goes out inadvertently, the electromagnetic valve 2 closes and shuts off the gas supply to burner 4. The mechanism 8 may, when opening switch 7, also actuate a signal transmitter 11. Control members 9, 10 for valve 3 and mechanism 8 may be co-axially arranged one behind the other. <IMAGE>
