Abstract

A method of providing an endless track wheel with wear resistant steel rings (4), comprises shrinking the rings (4) on to side walls (3) of the rims. The rings (4) are constructed angularly in such a manner that one limb extends axially and the other limb approximately parallel to the adjacent surface of chain guide teeth. Each axially extending limb is so shrunk on that the degree of shrinkage, thus the difference between the clear diameter (D4) of a radially inwardly facing surface (4.1) formed by the axially extending limb and the diameter (D3) an outer shoulder (3.1) referred to the mean diameter of the rim is between 0.03% and 0.2%, while the diameter (d3) of an inner shoulder (3.2) is not greater than the clear diameter (d4) of a radially inwardly facing surface (4.2) formed by the other limb of the ring (4). <IMAGE>
