Abstract

An ignition/flame-detection device for a burner combustion control system comprises a first series-circuit including an electrode 3, a pulse generator circuit 5, a bidirectional thyristor 17 with two terminals and a burner 1, a second series-circuit including a capacitor 10, a resistor 12, and a secondary winding of a transformer 8 having a primary winding connected to an external AC power source, the second series- circuit being connected across the thyristor, a low-pass filter 13, 14 for smoothing a voltage appearing across the thyristor due to the presence of flame, and a flame detector circuit 15 for detecting the smoothed voltage, thereby generating a flame detection signal. With such a circuit arrangement, an erroneous operation of the device is prevented and a flame detection sensitivity of the device is improved. <IMAGE>
