Abstract

To provide a constant braking torque from a hydrodynamic retarder 7, whatever ratio is selected in a change- speed gearbox 6 connected in a drive line behind the retarder 7, there is provided, between a fluid pressure source 1 and a, preferably manual, control 9 and a servo retarder- regulating device A, an adjustable value 10 controlled by a cam 12 connected to the change-speed linkage 5. An adjustable setting member 11 for the value 10 has as many control steps as the gear- box 6 has change-speed steps for the principal direction of rotation and is coupled to the change-speed linkage 5 both for upward and downward shifting of the gearbox 6. <IMAGE>
