Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce steering force under low speed condition with high reduction ratio while improving stability in travelling with low reduction ratio by controlling power magnification of a power steering apparatus with a change position in a reduction gear.
CONSTITUTION: A power steering apparatus opens one path of a change-over controlling valve 5 in steering operation to supply oil pressurized by a pump 7 driven by an engine 14 to one cylinder 4 and thereby drive a shaft 3a in the steering direction through a piston 4a and connecting rod 4b. Then, a detector 11 is provided which detects a change position of a reduction gear provided with a change control lever 15. By the change position signal of a control circuit 12 according to the signal of this detector 11, for example under top condition, is disengaged a clutch 13 to stop the pump 7 and thereby the whole power steering apparatus. In addition, the power steering apparatus is controlled by the operation of a pressure controlling valve 6 according to the output of a speed sensor 9.
