Abstract

A pump for handling aggressive fluids which must not be allowed to leak from the pump. In order for there to be no direct mechanical connection to the moving member (12) of the pump so as to enable all potential leakage paths to the exterior of the pump to be avoided, the moving member (12) of the pump, whose oscillation is effective to cause fluid displacement, is caused to be moved using the linear motor principle. <IMAGE>
