Abstract

An annular wing comprises a rigid annular body (12) of a substantially uniformly symmetrical configuration having an annular positive lifting surface and a chord line (18) coincident with the segment of radial line on the surface of an inverted truncated cone to form a dihedral between laterally opposite regions of the wing and a decalage between longitudinally opposite regions of the wing, relative to the line of flight. The attitude of the wing in flight is controlled by adjusting the relative position of center of gravity and aerodynamic center. The wing can be employed, without requiring directional stabilising surfaces, in powered or non- powered aircraft, including tethered craft such as kites. <IMAGE>
