Abstract
201,612. Kershaw, J., and Eureka Cutter-Welder Tool Co., Ltd. April 29, 1922. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Blowpipe burners; spray burners; voporizing-apparatus. - The fuel and oxygen or compressed air supplies for a gas, vapour, or spray burner for metal welding, brazing, cutting and like purposes are proportionately and simultaneously regulated by means of a reciprocable tube. Fig. 2 shows a welding burner in which the fuel oil enters the burner head f from a tube d through an orifice g which is regulated by a tube h threaded so as to engage a screwed port h<2> on the tube d. The oxygen enters the head f through the tube hand the rotation of the tube h by means of a knurled flange l to regulate the fuel supply simultaneously adjusts a spring-pressed valve j regulating the oxygen supply. The fuel oil is forced from a reservoir by the oxygen to the tube d through a conduit c, valve o, and pipe c<1>. The flame from a subsidiary burner nozzle t vaporizes the fuel in the tube d. Oxygen passes to the valve through a flexible pipe m and valve n. The valves o, n are linked together so as to be operable simultaneously. An independently adjustable valve e is preferably provided where the fuel enters the tube d. The pipe c is wound round the pipe m so as to form an armouring. The. burner may be provided with a central orifice to which additional oxygen is led to form a cutting jet by a pipe connected to oxygen supply on the rearward side of the valve j. A separate valve is provided for regulating the cutting jet.
