Abstract
A caliper is mounted on a portion 3 of a vehicle-attachable support for sliding movement relative thereto, by means of a main guide pin 5 friction welded to the portion 3 and by means of an auxiliary guide pin, the caliper sliding on the pins. The pin 5 is provided with a flange 5a which prevents welding flash 8 produced by the friction welding from extending beyond said flange. A boot 7 seals the surface of the pin from the environment outside the boot, and the boot is protected by means of flange 5a from abrasion or puncture by the flash 8. In an alternative, the pin 5 is welded to the caliper and the support slides on the pin. <IMAGE>
