Abstract

A connector device of the indirect type serves for the positioning and assembly of contact pins 3 in a panel 1, such as a metal plate or printed circuit card, provided with holes 2 for receiving the pins 3. The device has a receptacle 4 with apertures 8 for receiving the pins 3 to be assembled and the receptacle 4 mates with another complementary connector part. The receptacle 4 is made flexible and deformable, for example, with the aid of slots 10, 11, 20, 30 in its base 7, to alter its dimensions slightly to overcome the problem of precisely aligning the pins 3 with holes 2 due to manufacturing tolerances and differential thermal expansion. The receptacle 4 can be pre-assembled with both signal-carrying pins 3 and earthing pins 3<1> and then pressed into the panel 1 in a single operation. <IMAGE>
