Abstract
A two-way photoelectrical information transmission system comprises a single light guide 3, a first direct band gap semiconductor light-emitting diode D1 optically coupled to one end of the light guide, a second direct band semiconductor light-emitting guide D1 optically coupled to the other end of the light guide, means TR1 for stimulating one light-emitting diode to emit a pulse of light, means IC1 for detecting a change in the state of the other light- emitting diode in response to light incident upon it from the light guide, and means (not shown) for causing the light-emitting diodes to alternate in function. Diodes D1 are isolated from leakage currents and from the capacitance of transistors TR1 when receiving light by D2, R2. In an alternative circuit, the detection circuitry includes a current to voltage convertor between each diode D1 and its comparator IC1. <IMAGE>
