Abstract

In a device for shrink-wrapping articles, hot air is blown towards the article (4) covered in shrinkable RIM (2) from a hot-air mast (15) which rotates about the latter. In the region of the centre of the sides of the article there is little or no support for the film (2) which can thus pull itself off the edge during shrinking without vertically securing the article. The device is thus arranged so as to provide for a variation in the intensity of the hot-air stream so that contraction in the troublesome regions can be reduced as necessary. This can be achieved by adjusting the temperature and/or speed of the blown air, and/or by varying the speed of rotation of the mast about the article and/or by providing baffles (19,20). Means are also provided for clamping the film so that it cannot contract in the relevant regions. <IMAGE>
