Abstract

A gas compressing apparatus having a rotary compressor 5 and a passage for the recirculation of gas from the outlet of the compressor to the inlet 7 under conditions of reduced demand, the said passage comprising a heat exchanger 48 to cool the gas and prevent heat build- up in the compressor during periods when substantially all of the gas is being recirculated. <IMAGE>
