Abstract

The invention relates to a thermal- break frame assembly for doors and windows comprising extruded metal outer and inner channel-shaped frame parts (S1, S2) which are connected together in spaced relation, with the channels facing each other by an H- shaped spacer member (5) extruded of a substantially rigid thermally insulating material e.g. of plastics. The spacer has pairs of spaced walls (6) projecting in opposite directions from a central body portion (5a, 5b) and having shoulders (7) which engage with abutments (4) on the side walls of the channel sections, the abutments having inclined faces (9) to facilitate the shoulders and abutments being interengaged, the central body portion of the spacer maintaining the desired spacing between the frame parts. <IMAGE>
