Abstract

Electrical generating apparatus comprises a hollow cylindrical member 100 of soft magnetic material, first and second diametrically opposed coils of wire 104, 106 each wound around the cylindrical member so as to pass through the interior of the member, and a magnet having first and second spaced apart poles 116, 118, the cylindrical member being relatively rotatable with respect to the magnetic poles. The relative movement of each coil generates a potential difference within it. When an external connection to such coil allows current to pass therethrough, this current sets up a magnetic flux within the other coil providing therein a further voltage additive to the first. The various arrangements disclosed include rotating poles (Fig. 7), parallel connected windings (Fig. 7), a shunt path (Figs. 12, 13), three phases (Fig. 14) and a planar air- gap arrangement (Figs. 27 and 28). <IMAGE>
