Abstract

A building component, which may be used as transparent thermal insulation, comprises a flexible plastics substrate (162) having a thickness between 0.5 and 20 mils, and long wave infrared radiation reflecting means (164) capable of reflecting at least 70% of all long wave infrared radiation incident thereon. The reflecting means (164) and the substrate (162) in combination are at least 75% transmissive to visible and other solar radiation. <IMAGE>
