Abstract

A method of manufacturing corrugated fibreboard from two or more webs of material, at least one of which is of a fibrous nature, wherein at least one of the webs is impregnated with an aqueous dispersion or emulsion of synthetic resin, wherein one of the webs is fed into a corrugating machine to provide a fluting medium, and wherein the corrugated web is then brought into contact with another web which provides a liner at a temperature sufficient to cause the two webs to adhere together in the vicinity of the tips of the fluting due to the presence of the synthetic resin. Preferably it is the fluting medium web which is impregnated and preferably the other web is also of a fibrous nature and is coated with a dispersion or emulsion of synthetic resin. If desired, a second liner can be applied to the single-facer material using the same technique or known techniques employing adhesive and likewise, the single-facer material can be converted to multi-ply materials either using the inventive method of traditional methods using adhesive. <IMAGE>
