Abstract

Vacuum filterbelt apparatus of the kind having a continuous ribbed belt (1) movable by driving means (2, 3) along a continuous path and carrying a filter cloth (6) on its ribs, and having centrally disposed apertures in the belt which are in communication with a vacuum chamber (5) beneath the belt, has a longitudinal side wall (24) of the vacuum chamber (5) arranged as one or more removable panels 24, to allow easy access to the interior of the chamber for the removal of deposits and incrustations. The removable panel (24) slants inwardly and downwardly and has its top or bottom edge (29) held by a removable element (23), the other edge being held in position by a toggle (25). The belt is concave and has central flanges (18) which slide along flanges (19) on the chamber 5. The apparatus can be used for filtering a slurry of gypsum and phosphoric acid. <IMAGE>
