Abstract

Friction (drum or disc) brake equipped with automatic adjusting means including a movable member 40 also includes a device to detect wear of (a) friction lining(s) 34(36) which device comprises two portions 84, 86 normally spaced but contacting an excessive wear to give a warning signal - one portion 87 is associated with movable member 40 and the other portion 86 is associated with the rotary member (e.g. drum 38). As shown, portion 87 is flexible blade and portion 86 comprises a rough surface on hub 88 - signal is sound signal. Signal may be electric. <IMAGE>
