Abstract

In a servo-engaged friction clutch as, for example, disclosed in GB 1266840 using rolling elements 66 between ramp surfaces to between the engagement pressure of the friction surfaces of plates 20, 21, the friction surfaces are selected to have a dynamic coefficient of friction greater than the static coefficient of friction, and preferably comprise steel and an organic friction facing respectively. <IMAGE>
