Abstract

A propeller driven motor boat is provided in which the propeller (11) is mounted below the hull (10) and on a shaft (12) extending fore and aft with a substantially horizontal component. The hull (10) has a recess (13) in its bottom which recess extends fore and aft to the stern of the boat and, in section across the length of the boat the recess is semi-circular. The propeller (11) is arranged so that the upper half of the area swept by the propeller lies within the recess (13). A member (14) is attached to the boat and provides a surface (15) facing the recess (13) which surface together with the recess forms a circular bore open at both ends and surrounding the propeller (11). <IMAGE>
