Abstract

A tubeless pneumatic tire comprises a plurality of radially extending projection or depressions 30 spaced circumferentially about the tire 10, in the lower bead portions of the tire, for preventing the tire from being inflated when the tire is mounted on a wheel having a rim 13 (Fig. 4) of a diameter smaller than the rim 12 for which it was designed. With such an undersized rim the toe of the bead does not seal on the bead seat 19, and the projections or depressions prevent an airtight seal between the beads and the rim flanges 15. <IMAGE>
