Abstract
The present invention provides an agent for combating plant viruses, comprising at least one thiourea derivative of the general formula:- <IMAGE> wherein R1, R2, R3, and/or R4 are hydrogen atoms or hydroxyl, carboxy, amino and/or alkoxy groups, as well as substituted alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl and/or cycloalkyl radicals and wherein R4 can also be a ureido, thioureido, ureidomethyl or thioureidomethyl radical optionally substituted by alkyl, alkenyl or aryl radicals, as well as a beta -naphthyl and/or beta -pyridyl radical, in admixture with a solid or liquid diluent or carrier. R1 and R2 or R3 and R4 may also jointly form a ring. The present invention also provides a method of treating plant viruses, as well as plants and plant material treated with a thiourea derivative of the above-given general formula.
