Blotting-appliances. -In holders for strips or sheets of paper, cloth, or like material, of the kind comprising a body part or block having a length greater than its height or width and provided at one end with a transverse groove or recess of wedge-shaped section in which the two ends of the strip or sheet laid round the block along its length are inserted and wedged, the top and bottom faces of the block are of curved profile, the ends being either flat or curved. The body part or block a may be either solid or hollow, of wood, metal, or other material, or it may be made of sheet metal &c. bent to the required shape. The two ends d<1>, d<2> of a strip d of blotting paper or the like are held in the groove c by the wedge e.
