Abstract

The apparatus utilises the Magnus effect and comprises, in one arrangement, cylinders rotatable about radial shafts 4 under the action of wind or water flow V passing through a duct supported by arms 5a, the duct itself being rotatable about output shaft 2 by adjustable turbine vanes 20. The cylinders are set in motion by engagement of wheels 8 with a recess 9 in the duct, several modifications are described including one in which the cylinders are carried on an endless belt supported on a pontoon floating in an annular canal for adjustment into the wind. <IMAGE>
