Abstract

The invention relates to devices of the "driving mechanism" type for collecting energy from any fluid in linear motion and for rotating such mechanisms by using the resistance of a cylinder placed in the fluid. The device consists of a cylinder 1, a deflector 2 which causes detachment of fluid filaments, and a flap 3 at the lower part of the cylinder which separates the flow along the lower surface from that along the upper surface. The more important applications include the collection of energy from the wind, from river and stream water or from any fluid in linear motion. This merely needs an arrangement in the form of a propeller, each blade consisting of a cylinder 1, a deflector 2 and a flap 3.

Description

MECANISME MOTEUR UTILISANT LA RESISTANCE D'UN CYLINDRE PLACE DANS UN FLUIDE
( VENT; EAU ) EN MOUVEMENT LINEAIRE.
MOTOR MECHANISM USING THE RESISTANCE OF A CYLINDER IN A FLUID
(WIND; WATER) IN LINEAR MOVEMENT.

The present invention relates to apparatus of the type n motor mechanism using the resistance of a cylinder placed in a fluid in linear motion "to recover the energy of wind, river water, or any other fluid in linear motion.

les dispositifs connus de ce genre, utilisent pour transformer l'énergie des collecteurs se servant de la pression et dépressions soit à l'aide d'hélices, d'aubes ou de voiles, pour mettre en rotation les collecteurs afin de transformer l'énergie dea fluides en puissance mécanique. known devices of this kind, use to transform energy collectors using pressure and depressions or using propellers, blades or sails, to rotate the collectors to transform energy fluids in mechanical power.

( figure 1 ).
The device of the invention uses the Nagnus effect. "A cylinder placed in a fluid in motion, offers a resistance that creates a force F
( figure 1 ). The creation of this force is linked to the wake that appears behind the cylinder. It is even more important that the body is less profiled.

As soon as the cylinder is rotating, the force F changes direction, it decomposes into a lift force P, perpendicular to the fluid flow, and a drag force R in the direction of flow (FIG. ). The intensity of the lift depends on the rotational speed of the cylinder, the weight of the fluid, its speed and the dimensions of the cylinder. This hydro-dynamic or aerodynamic phenomenon called "Magnus effect" was applied to the wind propulsion of the ships in the 1925s by engineer FLETTNER. To apply this phenomenon to engines using the resistance of a cylinder placed in a fluid and to avoid the inconveniences associated with the rotation of the cylinders, it suffices to place a deflector at the point of unhitching the threads of the fluid which compresses part of the boundary layer. A flap placed in the lower rear part of the profile makes it possible to separate the intraday and extrade flows, the aerodynamic or hydrodynamic forces are slightly lower than those obtained on a rotating cylinder, but simplify the system and allow the application of the "Magnes effect" to doanes or b hydroelectric plants
As shown in Figure 3, the device comprises a cylinder (1), a deflector (2), a flap (3) placed at the bottom of the profile. The entire device forms a blade that will be used in a fluid having a linear displacement.
