Abstract

200,654. Holmes, F. J., and Hart Accumulator Co., Ltd. May 25, 1922. Connections. - The spring terminals 12 of a miner's lamp or like battery are mounted outside of the battery cover 6 and each to one side of the terminal post 5 to which it is connected. The height of the battery is reduced by placing each spring 13 in a corresponding metal cup 8, e.g. of antimonial lead, disposed in an insulating cup 7, e.g. of celluloid which projects downwards through a recess in the cover 6. The cup 8 is threaded to receive a plug 11 in which the terminal 12 slides. A lug 9 integral with the cup 8 is secured to the terminal post 5, a rubber washer 10 being preferably fitted between the lug and the cover. In a modification, the bottom of the cup 8 is provided with an upstanding projection to prevent deformation of the spring.
