Abstract

The drive is provided with means for triggering its retention force when a locomotive passes over the points independently of the control and operating elements of the drive which include a fixed piston rod (5) and an axially movable cylinder (16) which drives a thrust rod (4) acting on the tongues (78,79) of the points. The triggering means comprise a follower (19) located on the operating cylinder (16) which is engageable with projections (44, 45) on a universal joint (46) surrounding the thrust rod (4), the projections being so spaced as to allow an idling stroke (h) of the follower (19). Two locking and unlocking systems (48, 68) are assigned to the operating cylinder (16), the universal joint (46) and slide valves (21, 21') and said systems are controlled by an unlocking rail (49) on the operating cylinder (16) which is effective to unlock the associated system (48 or 68) when it engages a roller (47 or 69) mounted on a lever forming part of the locking or unlocking system. <IMAGE>
