Abstract

In a suspension system for a vehicle having two or more pairs of wheels wherein the load on each wheel is supported by a volume of air or gas in a pressure chamber (not shown) in combination with an hydraulic suspension unit, each suspension unit is provided with an individual valve 1 for controlling the supply of hydraulic fluid under pressure to the suspension unit (not shown) to maintain it at a predetermined length. Operation of the valve 1 is controlled by first sensing means 3 responsive to extension and contraction of the unit and by second sensing means 4 responsive to changes in the pressure of the hydraulic fluid in the unit. In addition the operation of the valve 1 may also be controlled by third sensing means 5 responsive to changes in the pressure in the suspension unit associated with the corresponding wheel on the opposite side of the vehicle. <IMAGE>
