Abstract

A fluid carrying particles such as dusty air, is passed as indicated by arrows 28a, 30a between crossed light polarizers 16 and 20. Light 12a is directed through the polarizers 16, 20 to a photodetector 26. Particles in the interpolarizer region depolarize the light which is then detected by the photodetector to provide an indication or particle concentration. <IMAGE>
