Abstract

An icing detector for a vehicle includes a probe to be mounted at the front of a vehicle and comprising an air-tight housing 1 enclosing a thermistor 2, the thermistor leads passing through a sealing plug 4 which is fixed within an open end 3 in the housing by a flexible adhesive to allow the plug to move in response to air pressure changes within the housing. The thermistor is connected to an electrical control circuit housed in a separate casing to energise warning lamps when the thermistor resistance rises to a predetermined value as the ambient temperature at the probe falls. <IMAGE>
