Abstract

Chromate ions are removed from alkali metal chromate solutions containing alkali metal chlorate by passage of the solution through a mixed bed of ion exchange resins containing a mixture of (a) an anion exchange resin in chloride form and (b) a weak cation exchange resin in conditioned hydrogen form. Substantially complete chromate removal is obtained without attendant formation of chlorine dioxide.
