Abstract

The invention relates to a fluid- pressure operated brake actuator incorporating an automatic adjuster which is prevented from operating at high fluid pressures. The brake actuator 26 comprises a piston 32 movable in response to the fluid pressure prevailing in a control chamber 34 and to the actuation of a mechanical actuator 40 incorporating automatic adjusting means 44. A Bourdon tube 82 responsive to the fluid pressure prevailing in the control chamber 34 is frictionally engageable with the piston 32 or (as shown) with the nut 64 of the adjusting means 44 to neutralize the latter when said pressure is above a predetermined value. <IMAGE>
