Abstract

The servo-assisted master-cylinder for a vehicle contains two (14,14a) pistons defining two pressure chambers (16,17) for separate brake circuits. A diaphragm (8) attached to the first piston (14) is actuated by a valve (3) connected to the brake pedal. One part (37) of the valve is attached to a rod (38) which can slide and is hermetically sealed inside an axial hole in the piston (14). The rod has a stepped portion (57) and an end (58) lying within the pressure chambers so that the hydraulic reaction in the chambers is transmitted to the movable part of the valve, independent of the postion of the piston and diaphragm.
