Abstract

A dispensing mechanism has a horizontal, rotatable disc 5 on to which cylindrical objects are placed at random and which by rotating causes the objects to be guided by radial guide means 9 in a line into a passage 13 at the end of which the objects pass singly or in groups through the outlet of the mechanism. The guide means comprises a guide member 9 which can rotate about a shaft 8 coaxial with the disc and is held resiliently against rotation by co-operating with a projection 10 on a wall of the passage 13. When a sufficient pressure is exerted on the guide member due to crowding or jamming of the objects in front of the passage entrance 12, the guide member 9 is forced past the projection 10 thereby relieving the pressure. The guide member 9 having been carried round by the objects on the disc 5 becomes operative again when it again contacts the projection 10. <IMAGE>
