Abstract

A mobile excavator having grab equipment which can be collapsed for road travel, the invention being concerned with enabling the overhang of the grab equipment, when collapsed, to be kept within prescribed limits. The grab equipment includes: a boom having an upper 5 and a lower part 4 which, in the non- collapsed condition, Fig 1 (not shown), are rigidly-joined together in line; a boom cylinder 15 for pivoting the boom, and a rod 12 articulated at one end 13 on the excavator body and at the other 14 on the upper boom part 5. To collapse the grab equipment a bolt (10) joining the two parts of the boom is removed whereupon the rod 12 serves to fold the boom about a remaining bolt 11 joining the upper 5 and lower parts 4, accompanied by retraction of the boom cylinder 15. <IMAGE>
